Music

I have been a musician for over 50 years, steeped in The Beatles and Dylan, with roots of country from my upbringing in Kentucky, the bluegrass state. I have played in all kinds of bands, at festivals, auditoriums, living rooms, and small, intimate gatherings around the fire. I especially enjoy using music to raise money for causes I want to support. (Click here to watch my former bluegrass/new grass band play a benefit for Haiti.)

These days I am finding that the most fulfilling music I have ever played comes from leading group singing and chanting in Kirtan, a form of music from India. The songs and music embrace sacred phrases from around the world and across all cultures. It empowers each person to find their voice and link our spirits in a shared vibration.

The group singing and chanting moves to a new level with the added movements known as the Dances of Universal Peace. The synchronicity of movement creates unity and builds community, and fills the space in our hearts with joy and love, so needed in today’s world. Join me for my next Kirtan and Dances of Universal Peace Retreat retreat.

Below you’ll find a few examples of the songs I do in Kirtan and with the Dances of Universal Peace.

First, my most recent recording, a chant, a blessing, and a dance.
